Vasai Railway Police helped a little boy who was taken away by a man. The man, named Shanshan or Asif Pathan, came all the way from Bihar to Mumbai with the purpose of taking a child who was around 4 or 5 years old. He wanted the child to support him in the future and fulfill his wish of being a father.
The incident happened on a Sunday afternoon at Virar train station. The little boy and his mom, who are beggars, were sleeping there. Pathan went up to the boy, offered him a vada pav to eat, and then gave him a chocolate before taking him away. When the mom woke up, she couldn’t find her child and immediately asked the railway police for help.
The railway police in Vasai acted quickly. They looked at the CCTV cameras in Virar station and saw a man between 25 and 30 years old taking the boy. They found out that the man got on a train and got off at Dadar station. They later discovered that he went to CSMT.
The police caught the man at CSMT around 11 pm on Sunday. They saved the kidnapped boy and brought him back to his mom.
Pathan is not married and has trouble finding work. He said he had tried to get married many times but got rejected. He was worried about his future and wanted someone to take care of him when he gets old, so he decided to kidnap a child of that age.
Senior Inspector of Vasai Railway Police, Sachin Ingavale, praised the team for their hard work. He said they rescued the boy within 8 hours of the incident. Pathan had come to Mumbai just a few days before and was searching for a child to take away in the city.
