After questioning Munni, she confessed to having an affair with one of their neighbors, Sanjaykumar Chandreshwar Prasad. The two of them admitted to killing Dubey because he had been assaulting Munni after drinking. On the night of the murder, Dubey had become violent after discovering the affair, and Prasad strangled him to death with a rope. The couple then took the body to the quarry and pushed him down the hill.
